Why, little girl, are you afraid of ghosts?
Does the gory mien scare you?
Or is it the spectrally icy glare it holds?

Why, little boy, are you fearful of fiends?
They lurk not in gloomy shadows,
But inside your tiny head

Oh children! Ponder awhile,
Can poltergeists even hold a knife?
Ever seen ghouls steal a living life?

Oh kids, think further,
Do humans not petrify you more?
They bomb and shoot—
revel in blood and gore

They mow crowds with lorries,
No reason to speak of,
These brainwashed imbeciles
—Are not even sorry

Hearts cast of stones, can’t appreciate
Life of others, or their own
These are the ghosts of our time—
Humans who’ve lost their souls

So tell me, must you be terrified of ghosts?
Or be scared witless of the fact that
Humans aren’t human anymore?

A ghost could be humping on my chest right now and I wouldn’t even know. But when humans are driven by this crazy, irrational impulse to slaughter and kill, it affects me. I can see the blood and feel the pain. We’ve all seen Paris, Brussels, Iraq, Jeddah, Turkey, Nice, Orlando, Dhaka…and more. God knows what’s next.

Despite the the terror, let us try to be patient, let us try to spread love. Let’s vow to make this world a better place. Let’s make love, not war. Let’s prove that there’s more good in the world than there is evil.

  1. Ghosts are indeed real and they can terrify and wreak havoc, but I fear you’re right that it’s the living that do the most harm. This world has become a sadder place over the years. Sometimes when I think about it, about how it might get even worse by the time my children grow up, I become sad and afraid for them.

And of course, we all deal with inner demons. Those still small voices in our minds cause so much damage, which is fed hatred, fear, jealousy, greed, sorrow, and restlessness by society and even by those who are supposed to love us most. Fighting our own minds can be a daily struggle. Shouldn’t we strive to lift one another up instead of pulling each other down, down to play with one another’s demons, ones who don’t play well together?

    1. I don’t really believe in the supernatural, but what’s happening around me right now is just terrifying. It appears as if the human race has lost all reason. Some people just fail to realise how precious human life is!
Guess the only way to help the world and ourselves is to preach love and companionship. Despite all this sadness, I truly believe that good can trump evil! ❤

      Thank you for reading 🙂

      1. I believe the same! Many think, why bother, I’m only one person. Yet, it only takes one act of kindness to change a person’s day. The more of us that show and live love, the more we can turn things around. ♡
