Quit Playing the Victim Card

l-459226

ā€œAbandon the idea that you will forever be the victim of the things that have happened to you. Choose to be a victor.ā€

ā€• Seth Adam Smith

Iā€™ll never understand people whoā€™re addicted to playing the victim card. You know, the kind who escape responsibility and throw blame around like confetti? The kind who have the innate ability to screw people over while making themselves look like the victim?

To the so called injured party-

Sorry to burst your bubble darlings, but your self-defeating drama, your whiny mentality and all of your excuses wonā€™t fetch you unquestioning sympathy. So for once, try taking responsibility for your actions. Please? You can’t create your own storms and get mad when it rains. And, umm if you got drama with everyone… have you ever thought maybe it’s you, not them?

But you can, if you truly want, flee this damaging cycle. Do not look for chances to be a victim, especially when you arenā€™t even under attack. Come out of this imaginary bad world youā€™ve built around yourself to protect your fragile ego. Itā€™s no good. Break this habit, and watch yourself grow.

THANK YOU

With that said, Iā€™d like to know what are your thoughts on this. Do you think that people who play the victim card are narcissists and excessively critical of everything? Or is it that theyā€™re defenceless children who cannot fend for themselves?

  1. Love what you are saying, I truly can relate with so much which has happened in my life. Feeling hopeless. This was very powerful words and so truth. Self-Power and Self-Growth empower a individual

  2. Some truly are victims, and I feel sorry for them. Not because of whatever they went through, necessarily, because tragedy, no matter how bad, can always be gotten through. But, because they were never taught how to take responsibility for their recovery from it. No matter what has happened in the past, one has to take up the reins of their life once again, whether alone, or with the help of trusted friends & family backing them up, and keep going. It might be a long struggle, but regaining, or maybe, gaining, for the first time, a sense of personal power & control over their own life, is one of the best feelings ever. I can’t see why anyone would give that up, not for all the attention in the world. Once you have that power for yourself, you are no longer a victim, but a survivor, and a victor, over the tragedy.

    1. You’re right, Jen. Nobody would want to give up control over their own life for attention. But I think, most such people invariably fail to realize that they, in fact, have a tendency to victimize themselves.
Before they can take charge, they need to realize that they’re doing it wrong. What do you think?

      1. I agree, totally. And I think that’s where they get stuck. Having never been taught how to take charge for themselves, they fall into the mindset of childhood, and look for a savior. When their best savior lives inside their own skin.
